John Talbot was trained in Film and TV production and worked mainly in Current Affairs and Documentaries with a few forays into light entertainment. During a three-month illness he wrote and illustrated a story for his own children which in turn led to a career in books. Over the course of the following 24 years major publishers such as Simon Schuster and Random House commissioned John to write and illustrate some sixty titles and his books have been printed in 18 countries around the world. Besides children's books he has written educational reading schemes and CD ROM's for schools. In 2006 his son Louis died suddenly and again John's life took a major change of direction. These days he is entirely preoccupied with personal art - painting derived purely from his own emotional interior. 'There is nothing clever about my life or my work now, it's simple and direct and hopefully moving.' Currently John is now preparing for his fourth one-man show in spring 2009.
